This is my oldest boy, He is 15 1/2. We will call him Conway. When I snapped this picture he had just landed on his backside in the small stream that disects our pasture. We had broken out of the house because a severe case of cabin fever has set in, and we definitely don't want to succumb to it.
I was planning on running some errands today, but when I got up to get the treeman out to work, we had gotten more snow, which made the roads even slicker. He left around 6 am, and called me after he had gotten down the road a bit. He said that within 2 miles of the house, he had already turned sideways in the road twice. So needless to say, I won't be venturing out today. Maybe tomorrow.
This is my baby boy. He is 12. I will call him Guitar boy. He is a very talented guitar player. He had just jumped over the same stream that big brother fell into. THEY have really enjoyed this snow and these snow days.

They went back to school after Christmas break on January 5. Well, between then and now, they have actually attended 6 days of school. We haven't really had that much snow, but we have had a lot of ice. Two days that they missed were because of below zero weather. We live in an area where a lot of children walk to the bus, like mine, they walk 1 mile to the bus stop, when the weather is good. I drive them out most of the time, but there are others who aren't so lucky. So they cancel school. Which means that they will go uup into June, and they start back the 1st week of August. I hate it for them that they get a shortened summer, but what can you do?

This is the trees beside our house looking like they are iced with white icing...beautiful huh?

And here is one more picture of the sun peeking out over the top of the ridge. It's gorgeous, but the light is kinda cold, I think.
My mom in North Carolina was telling me last night that it was warm enough there yesterday to go around in short sleeves...I think she is trying to make me jealous. What do ya'll think?

Well, we are snowed in!

We received almost 6 inches of snow over this past week. I am tired of it. I want to see Spring arrive, flowers blooming, newborn calves being born, birds singing, and people planting gardens. And I want to get started on our new project, which is building a pond here. We have this holler, or ravine, way up behind our house, and all we need to do is dig it out a little bit, and dam up the front, then it could start filling in with water. The government says to let it fill up, wait 1 year, they will stock it with fish, then you wait another year to fish in it. I wonder if I could wait? This is my 14 year old boy, my middle child, my mini me. He looks like me, acts like me, sounds alot like me, and we like most of the same things, except each other...no, not really, but we are so much alike it is hard for us to get along with each other. My mother cursed me when I was a child, she told me" One of these days, you will have a child that acts just like you, and you will see why I went gray so early." How true it is. For this blog, we will call him Sunflower boy. He is totally bored right now, he has been grounded for a week because of bad grades on his report card. So he is begging for things to do, unless of course you give him a job to do. I conned him into going out and taking pictures for me today, he took all the ones you will see today on here. So its only fair that his is on here too.

If you look really close at the picture of the road below, you will see that the road has not been touched bysnowplow, and hasn't been treated with melting agents. The sad thing about how covered it still is is that it is a Blacktop County Road. But unfortunately, it deadends at my house. we live at the head of the holler, and there are 6 houses below us. Luckily, we can't see any of them from my house! But, living this far off the main road, when we get snow, we stay home. Well, we do, meaning the boys and myself. My Husband, whom we will call Treeman for this blog, works for a tree trimming company, so for the last three days, he has been on storm duty, and hasn't been getting in until midnight, going to bed, back up at 5 am, gone by 6 am.

All about me

Hi! I am Amber, from Eastern Kentucky. I am 34 years old, mom to 3 beautiful boys, 15, 14, and 12. I am also mom to Jake, an 8 year old Boston Terrier, to Luci, a 3 year old Boxer, Jester, a 4 year old neutered Tom Cat, and last but not least, Spooki, a 1 year old Tortoiseshell cat, who is very feisty and rotten. I have always wanted to blog, so now I am getting down to business. We live on a 50 acre farm out in the middle of nowhere, called Mattie. We are 15 miles from the nearest grocery store, and we love it. We are a Christian family, we attend Cando Free Will Baptist Church.
