not again.

Looks like we will be looking at this scenery again this weekend. Not looking forward to it, I can say that.

Chickens, cabbage, and the dreaded 4 letter word s***!

These are the fluffy lil darlins I posted about a couple weeks ago. http://kentuckysunflower-amber.blogspot.com/2009/03/here-they-are.html On March 18th, to be exact. They were only 2 days old when those pictures were taken. Now they are 3 weeks old, and they are huge! They are now outside in a homemade brooder on the back porch. Cute, aren't they? This next picture is my cabbage I planted last Saturday...see the white stuff? Any guesses as to what that is? No, its not the white stuff in potting soil...its the snow that has been falling all day here...Luckily, it is NOT sticking...lol.

Here is more of that yucky stuff, see the puppy? The flakes were huge...for a few minutes, I believe it was hail, it was loud, hitting our metal roof, but by the time I got outside with the camera, it was gone...

Here you can see the walkway to the house, this fell in just a few seconds, I am so glad it was almost 80 here yesterday,...if it hadn't been, we would have had a real mess here!

Now this little hen is saying "get out of here!" And on that note, I am gone!

Finally!

The snow has finally melted here, as you can see from this picture, which was taken yesterday from the ridge beside the house. The boys went on another hike (it hit60 degrees here yesterday!) It was a gorgeous day at Mattie! In the picture, you can still see snow on the hills surrounding our house, but now it is almost all gone. There are a few icy spots, which I discovered this morning at 5:30 when I went out to start my husband's truck.

These are the strawberry cupcakes my boys made last week while we were snowed in.My boys are a rare breed. They actually like to cook. I had found heart shaped ?cupcake? pans at our local catholic charity store, and I really like using them, and so do the boys. They made the cupcakes, iced them, then they disappeared, the cupcakes, not the boys.

This is a picture they took yesterday while they were hiking. This is the spot where we go when we camp on our mountain. My husband sets up a zip line, and the boys have a ball riding that thing. I haven't worked up enough courage to try it yet...
But now I have gotta get cleaned up for Sunday School, which we haven't had in 2 weeks, and get some breakfast made for my three noodle heads, who by the way,are still asleep in their beds...not for long though!

This is my oldest boy, He is 15 1/2. We will call him Conway. When I snapped this picture he had just landed on his backside in the small stream that disects our pasture. We had broken out of the house because a severe case of cabin fever has set in, and we definitely don't want to succumb to it.
I was planning on running some errands today, but when I got up to get the treeman out to work, we had gotten more snow, which made the roads even slicker. He left around 6 am, and called me after he had gotten down the road a bit. He said that within 2 miles of the house, he had already turned sideways in the road twice. So needless to say, I won't be venturing out today. Maybe tomorrow.
This is my baby boy. He is 12. I will call him Guitar boy. He is a very talented guitar player. He had just jumped over the same stream that big brother fell into. THEY have really enjoyed this snow and these snow days.

They went back to school after Christmas break on January 5. Well, between then and now, they have actually attended 6 days of school. We haven't really had that much snow, but we have had a lot of ice. Two days that they missed were because of below zero weather. We live in an area where a lot of children walk to the bus, like mine, they walk 1 mile to the bus stop, when the weather is good. I drive them out most of the time, but there are others who aren't so lucky. So they cancel school. Which means that they will go uup into June, and they start back the 1st week of August. I hate it for them that they get a shortened summer, but what can you do?

This is the trees beside our house looking like they are iced with white icing...beautiful huh?

And here is one more picture of the sun peeking out over the top of the ridge. It's gorgeous, but the light is kinda cold, I think.
My mom in North Carolina was telling me last night that it was warm enough there yesterday to go around in short sleeves...I think she is trying to make me jealous. What do ya'll think?
